The presence of a piper at a funeral can add a very special touch |
||
Service The sound of the bagpipes playing traditional Scottish laments or a special tune of your choice can be quite comforting as your loved one is laid to rest. The following are examples of times when the pipes can be played during the day. The piper can lead the hearse from the gates of the church or crematorium to the chapel and play at the entrance of the chapel until all family/friends are seated inside. Pipes can again be played as your beloved is being carried from the hearse to the chapel. On previous occasions I have piped to the alter until your loved one is laid to rest, and then pipe back out with the sound of the pipes drifting away in the distance as the service commences. |

Burial A piper can play again as your beloved is being carried back to the hearse and as your family and friends leave the chapel. The piper can lead the deceased and family/friends to the graveside and play some sweet laments of your choice as the coffin is being lowered. At this point the piper slow marches until the distant sound of the pipes fades away. |
