CLASSES FOR CHILDREN

I am fully disclosed and hold an ENHANCED CERTIFICATE WITH DISCLOSURE SCOTLAND to work as a Music Tutor with Children.

I started playing the chanter and bagpipes at the age of 9. The photo bottom left is me with my tutor, Alex Watson of Annan, and on the right my brother, Paul, and I with medals!!

Louise & Brother Paul
I run small hourly classes for children on a FRIDAY afternoon in Leith, Edinburgh. I hold a Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Chanter Class and a Bagpipe Class. Prices are £5.00 for 1 hour’s tuition and is in small class format. A space can be reserved once 6 weeks payment is received in advance or during the first lesson, totalling £30.00. Chanters can be purchased from the class. It is wonderful to see so many keen and inspired children playing the chanter or bagpipes in my class!!

This is a photo of Liam and Jordan, which was taken during their first public performance on St. Andrews Day 2006 at their Primary School. They started off the celebrations to the sound of 'The Flower of Scotland' and 'Scotland the Brave!!!'. Very well done, considering, they have both just recently moved onto the bagpipes after playing the chanter for only 9 months. I am very proud of them.

There is a pic of the boys at the top of the side banner piping in the Haggis on Rabbie Burn's Day 2007 at their School.

CLASSES FOR ADULTS

I teach Adults with the Adult Learning Project Scots Music Group on a Tuesday Evening. I hold a Beginners Chanter Class as well as a Bagpipe Class, where we join up with a percussion band near the end of each term to perform as a band! I am also employed by the City of Edinburgh Council as
a Bagpipe Tutor and teach on a Wednesday Evening as part
of the Community Education Programme. I hold a Beginners Chanter Class and Post-Beginner’s Class. Once my pipers have mastered the pipes, they can either join a local pipe
band, join my ALP Pipe Band or play solo, which ever suits the individual. The photo right, is me and my class saying goodbye to Katsinori, who was returning to Japan after I taught him to play the bagpipes.
